September 2010 saw the formation of EVOLUTION BRASS, a training band for all my pupils plus any brass player wishing to improve or learn about the aspects of playing in a group/ensemble.
Please like and follow us on our facebook page EVOLUTION BRASS.
The end of term concerts are always a roaring success with the audience enjoying listening to the pieces which have been prepared over the previous term. Family and friends are always very impressed with the group's performance and many comment on the noticeabe improvement. The pupils are all nervous but concentrate really well and produce a very entertaining short concert. Refreshments are provided for everyone after and the band say their farewells for the holidays.
The group meet Wednesday evenings, term time only, at Burgess Hill School for Girls, Keymer Road, Burgess Hill RH15 OEG. 6.30pm - 8.15pm.
We play exercises, warm ups followed by some well known (and not so well known) tunes to teach all the aspects of ensemble playing. Understanding notations, counting, playing harmony, working as a team blending with others, confidence in playing different parts, confidence, listening, following etc etc etc.
It is good fun and we have a short break for refreshments half way through. All brass instruments are welcome including french horns and trumpets, all standards and all ages. Music and refreshments are supplied. £25 per term
A very informal concert is performed at the end of each term to show family and friends what has been achieved.
Come along and see what you think.
